The majority of second-level teachers believe incoming changes to the Leaving Cert will create difficulties in authenticating students' work.

A survey by the ASTI shows 88 % of teachers feel the Additional Assessment Component will cause problems in the grading process.

The component will see projects, worth a minimum of 40 % of the overall grade, introduced for all subjects at senior cycle level.

Kieran Christie, General Secretary of the ASTI, says teachers feel the changes are being rushed,

"Teachers, quite frankly, are concerned that they won't be properly in a position to authenticate the work of students ".
