The number of second-hand houses for sale around the country has dropped by half in a decade, with the largest drop recorded in Munster

Population growth means the demand in the market is unlikely to decrease in the short term

Speaking to RedFM News Der O'Riordan of Barry Auctioneers in the city says the housing market has been hit by a perfect storm with the crash in 2008, Covid 19 and the Ukraine War

"I  you look at our economy, our economy is good, which is causing even more pressure on it, because we have full employment, high salaries, and the cost of building has gone through the roof. The big problem is that we don't have enough houses being built. There are developers that are ready to go but planning and services to landbanks are just too slow"
