Earlier homeowners in Midleton had been warned to prepare for flooding this morning however high tide passed off without incident
Cork County Council are continuing to ask members of the public to avoid Midleton Town Centre as a traffic management operation is in place to facilitate the cleanup .
A mattress and an adults bicycle were among the larger items that were disposed of in Glanmire which led to a culvert in the village being blocked and contributed to the build up of water
City Council Engineer David Joyce told RedFM News that crews are continuing to work in the village
"Most of Glanmire is accessible but you cannot drive through it from the Dunkettle Roundabout. We have been out in Copper Valley Vue this morning and there was a lot of sandbags distributed out there yesterday. And again, there was no flooding issue at Copper Valley Vue this morning, the river level is actually one metre below the bank levels as we speak. There is some flooding further out in New Line, and we believe that is due to blocked gullys and drainage channels because of debris washed overnight. So we have crews out there at present freeing that up"
