Five men will be sentenced for the murder of father-of-seven Thomas Dooley this morning. The men were found guilty following a trial at the Central Criminal Court in Cork.

The inquests in to the deaths of two men who died during an Ironman competition in Youghal in August of last year will open today. 45 year old Brendan Wall from Slane in County Meath and 64 year old Ivan Chittenden of Toronto in Canada died on August 20th last year after they separately experienced difficulties in the water during the challenge.

A hot plume of air from the south is bringing killer temperatures to parts of Europe this week. Spain could reach 45 degrees Celcius, France could see 41 degrees, and England will experience values in the low 30's.
