A Yellow warning for ice is in place for Cork until midday. Rain, sleet and snow is falling in the SouthWest of the country while 15 other counties are still under an orange alert for low temperatures and ice. Cork County Council says that lying snow in some of the worst parts hit in the county such as Charleville and Newmarket will take time to clear.

A new watershed ban on drink advertising on TV and radio comes into force today. The ban means no advertisements for alcohol products on television from 3am to 9pm and on radio on weekdays from 3pm to 10am the following morning.
