A judge has offered sympathies to the parents of a boy who died after his bicycle was hit by a man driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck in Carrigaline and said they will always remember the pain of losing their son. Judge Dermot Sheehan was speaking at Cork Circuit Criminal Court before sentencing the driver to two years in prison and disqualifying him from driving for six years.

A new report forecasts housing supply is unlikely to exceed an average of 45,000 units annually, over the next two years. It comes as Fianna Fail and Fine Gael come under pressure after claiming around 40,000 homes would be built last year when the final figure was closer to 30,300.

Just 3% of people think it's OK to ask someone what they earn on a first date. A survey by jobs website Indeed, found one in five don't know what their partner earns, while more than half think talking about pay is 'taboo'.
