Costs are racking up on the long awaited flood defence project for Cork with €13 million already spent on the design and consultation elements. The Journal Investigates claims project costs have jumped from an estimated €140 million to €200 million with an additional €20 million for city walls.

Marathon talks between healthcare workers unions and the HSE ended without agreement at the Workplace Relations Commission in the early hours of this morning.
