-The Israeli military has ordered people living in the south of Gaza to urgently leave as it widens its offensive. But humanitarian agencies are warning the areas targeted have already seen an influx of people trying to escape the fighting in the north.
-Teens aged 13 to 17 can get a free nasal flu vaccine for the first time this year. All 2 to 17 year-olds can avail of it at their GP or pharmacy, due to an expected surge in flu and winter viruses.
-The Pogues' popular song "Fairytale of New York" is in a race for the number one spot in the charts, alongside Wham and Mariah Carey. The sudden death of the band's frontman, Shane MacGowan, has reignited interest in the song which has never reached the top spot, peaking at number two when it was originally released in 1987.
