A Garda is in a critical condition in hospital this morning after a crash involving a Garda car in Youghal.
It was hit by another car at the Youghal bypass.
The unmarked Garda patrol car was helping a broken down car on the N25, at the bypass when it was struck, shortly before 7 o'clock yesterday evening.
A Garda suffered serious injuries and has been brought to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition this morning.

A man in his 40s is due in court in the city later this morning in relation to an incident at a bar in Douglas at the weekend.
Gardaí were called to the Briar Rose Bar on Saturday after 6pm following reports that a man injured two staff members with a knife.
A man in his early 40s was arrested at the scene and taken to Togher Garda Station for questioning.

A man's been killed after being knocked down in County Tipperary.
The pedestrian was hit by a car on the N24 at Townspark, Carrick-on-Suir at around half 7 yesterday evening.
The 67 year-old's body remains at the scene and the man driving the car who's 42 is being treated for non-life threatening injuries in Tipperary University Hospital.

Restriction zones are in place in County Monaghan this morning after an outbreak of bird flu.
The Department of Agriculture says H5N1 has been detected in a commercial turkey flock in the county after samples tested positive.
Poultry keepers with flocks within the zones must comply with the requirements and confine all poultry and captive birds inside a secure building.
