The young woman who died after being attacked by a dog in county Limerick last night has been named as Nicole Morey.
In a post on social media, Nicole’s sister said her heart is shattered following the tragedy which is believed to have happened on the 23-year-old’s birthday.
Gardaí say they are aware of videos of the scene being shared online and are asking people not to share any footage.
Mayor of Limerick Councillor Gerald Mitchell says more must be done to prevent attacks by dangerous dog breeds:
"Further legislation to curb these unfortunate circumstances should be legislated for. I know that Minister Humphrey, this morning has hit up a specialist group, and the quicker legislation is brought forward, the better and safer for the people of Limerick city and all of Ireland"
