The youngest TD in the Dail - is calling for a reset in relation to the country's housing policy
24 year old Eoghan Kenny a Labour TD for Cork North Central was commenting after a CSO report revealed that 70% of 25-year-olds are living with their parents
62% of them were living at home for financial reasons
Deputy Eoghan Kenny told RedFM News a generation of young people have been locked out of the housing market and renting is no longer a solution to the problem
"I'm twenty four years old, I'm living at home and I am definitely not in position to be able to buy or rent a home right now. We have a shortage of social housing, we have a shortage of private rental accommodation, and then sometimes with private rental accommodation, the HAP scheme isn't accepted. So we have serious issues in relation to the HAP scheme , private rental and allowing people to even go and get the opportunity to buy their own home"
