More than 65,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power around the country as a result of Storm Barra.
Cork and Kerry are bearing the brunt of the storm force winds which could reach in excess of 130km per hour.
Storm Barra has knocked over 11,000 customers off the power grid across Cork.
Cobh has been worst hit, with over 7,400 without power.
In Castletownbere 1,794 without power after Storm Barra made landfall in West Cork.
In the city 1,522 customers in the Bishopstown area remain without power since this morning and over 1500 customers are off the power grid in Cobh.
Power outages have also been reported in Kinsale, Timoleague, Macroom and Bantry.
Repair crews are working on the faults, when it’s safe to do so, and the estimated time of restoration for the majority of outages is around teatime this evening.
The ESB says power outages are mainly due to trees falling on overhead lines.
