Tens of thousands of runners and supporters are expected to bask in the city centre sunshine this Sunday for the Cork City Marathon.
Organisers say more than 12,500 runners from 37 countries have registered for the full marathon, half marathon and the new 10k race - a record number of participants.
More over 4,000 runners alone will be travelling to Cork from outside the county for the weekend.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cork City Marathon Race Director, Eamon Hayes says the final preparations are crucial:
"The crucial thing is to drink lots of fluids between now and the race. Be hydrated before you start running - that's a huge help, because if you drink lots during the race, it just kind of weighs you down. So you have to be clever about it, not drink too much, drink enough, but what really helps is if you're hydrated before you start out. That's a crucial thing. Also if you can get a good night's sleep tonight, that will help you loads as well. Rest up and take it easy for the next couple of days".
