Threshold Cork says there are things that students can do to to protect themselves from accommodation scams.
Earlier today, the French Embassy in Ireland issued a warning on its website to French students coming to study in Ireland.
The notice told the students that there is a 'severe housing crisis' here - and that they must take extra care to avoid getting scammed by accommodation fraudsters - as students scramble for accommodation.
Opposition politicians have branded Ireland's 'severe-housing-crisis-reputation 'embarrassing'.
Speaking to RedFM News, Edel Conlon of Threshold says Letting Scams are common:
"In Thresholds, we often see cases of scams. So it's very important for students and renters that if a property is being advertised and it looks too good to be true - than it normally is. So it's very important to always view the property before renting it, and, if possible, to transfer the money to an agent that you know is registered".
