Progress on the project has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic
The Echo reports the deadline for the return of tenders was extended from May to June due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Contractors Sisk were originally awarded the contract, however the project was re-tendered last summer after Sisk and TII could not agree on costs for phase two of the project.
No start date for the main works has been finalised, however it's expected works at Dunkettle will not be completed before 2023.
