Traders in Bantry are on high alert ahead of next week's high tide
Over 40 homes and businesses in the West Cork town were left under six inches of water during last Saturday's Orange Rain warning
Business owners in Bantry can benefit from up to 5 thousand euro to replace flooring, fixtures and fittings, and damaged stock under an emergency humanitarian support scheme which has opened today
Dolf D'Hondt who runs a pop up charity shop in the town told RedFM News if next Thursday's high tide is accompanied by heavy rain the town will flood again
"For instance, if we have a high tide coming in and we have heavy downpours, the chances of flooding is very, very likely. We were lucky last Saturday, that it was low tide, if it had been high tide, we would had a couple of feet in every shop, you know, which is obviously a worry. I think this financial help is of benefit, and is greatly appreciated, but at the same time, it could happen again next week"
