Traders Midleton say it’s vital people shop local this month to help the town's economy recover after devastating floods.
Midleton and Area Chamber of Commerce have organised a two-day Christmas event this weekend to boost footfall following the flash flood on the 18th of October.
Stores in the town will be open until 10pm on Friday for the ‘Jingle and Mingle’ event which includes choirs and workshops.
Sinead Morrissey from Bertelli Menswear says the town needs support:
"People are being very supportive, they are coming to town, but unfortunately, there are a number of businesses that have not reopened yet, so it is having an effect on the rest of the town. I did speak with some people that were not flooded, and they said footfall is down quite a bit, so please shop in December, come to Midleton, shop support our restaurants, our bars, our shops and our stores"
