Transatlantic flights could return to Cork Airport.

The DAA says it’s encouraging airlines to increase connectivity to destinations like Boston and New York to Cork due to the passenger cap at Dublin Airport.

Cork is now Ireland’s fasting growing airport with a 7% passenger increase in January compared to last year.

Speaking to RedFM News, DAA CEO Kenny Jacobs says it’s up to airlines to increase transatlantic flights to Cork:

"We are always talking with the airlines and we would incentivise them to that. I think it might start with the summer. And there was connectivity with the East Coast before which was great with J1's and business people and I know the business community here would love to have it. It's on our radar, we're pushing it quite hard to incentivise them to give it a go."
