Minister Eamon Ryan is in the city today after the NTA announced a new €600 million investment in the project.
The NTA also launched a new report into how the construction of 75 kilometres of dedicated bus lanes and 54 kilometres of cycling lanes will significantly improve public transport in the city.
The 12 proposed bus corridors will connect areas such as Dunkettle, Mayfield, Blackpool, Ballincollig and Mahon to the city centre.
Speaking to RedFM News, Transport Minister Eamon Ryan outlines his message to the City and County Councils:
"What can we deliver in three years? If we were to go gangbusters and go absolutely flat out, which are the projects we would do quickly using experimental traffic management measures? And I think it's to pick two or three of the routes and to advance them really quickly. I think it's all about delivering now. A lot of the bus services are going to be available, Bus Éireann are ready to ramp up. We need to reallocate space, that will be difficult; that's a council decision that will come from the council working with the NTA. But that's what can be done."
