The trial of Richard Satchwell begins this morning after a jury was sworn in yesterday afternoon.
The 57-year-old of Grattan Street, Youghal, County Cork pleaded NOT guilty to the murder of his wife Tina in March 2017.
The prosecution is expected to deliver an opening statement to the jury of seven women and five men this morning.
Up to 100 witnesses including pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster, Gardaí, staff from Forensic Science Ireland and members of Tina Satchwell’s family will be giving evidence.
The trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin is expected to last up to six weeks.
Tina Satchwell’s body was discovered buried under a floor underneath a staircase at her home in Youghal in October 2023.
