Two Cork Gardai were awarded Scott Medals for bravery at a ceremony in Dublin this morning.
13 Scott Medals were awarded in total by the Garda Commissioner at a ceremony at Dublin Castle.
The Scott Medal is the highest award that can be bestowed by the Commissioner and is awarded for 'most exceptional bravery and heroism involving the risk of life in the execution of duty'.
Bronze Scott Medals was awarded to Sergeant John McDonagh and Sergeant Joseph Young for their actions which resulted in the arrest of armed robbery and abduction suspects at a house in Mount Oval, Rochestown on the 2nd of May 2005.
