The organisations were named winners of the Prestigious National Environmental Pakman Awards 2021.
Good Fish Processing and furniture recycling and reuse social enterprise IRD Duhallow Furniture REVAMP were both recognised at the 2021 Pakman Awards for their excellent waste management practices.
The awards recognise excellent work in sustainability, recycling and waste management by any business, organisation, community group or individual.
Fish processor and retailer Good Fish Processing was named the winner of the ‘Waste Prevention Business Award.
Furniture recycling and reuse social enterprise IRD Duhallow Furniture REVAMP won the ‘Community Recycling Initiative of the Year’ Award.
In the past five years, IRD Duhallow Furniture REVAMP has collected over 5,400 items of used furniture, diverting 175 tonnes from landfill.
The Pakman Awards judging panel singled out IRD Duhallow Furniture REVAMP for its efforts providing the county Cork community with access to the collection of unwanted furniture, as well as increasing their awareness of the importance of recycling.
Good Fish Processing have a strong commitment to working with its staff, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to protect natural resources and reduce environmental impact.
