New steps are being taken to progress cancer research across the south of the country.
University College Cork and UPMC have announced a partnership to improve outcomes for patients.
Two Oncology Professors are being appointed to develop an internationally-recognised Cancer Research Institute.
UCC Professor Roisin Connelly says they're looking for the best academics in this area:
"These are two new positions that we're attracting to UCC and Cork University Hospital, and really we are open to bringing in the best of international experts in cancer research to come in to Cork and work with our team to bring the excellent science into new treatments."
