The students union at UCC are to mount a day of action later this month following comments made this week by the President of UCC about college fees
Speaking at a Cork Chamber breakfast briefing yesterday John O'Halloran says there needs to be an honest conversation about the rate of student contribution fees for third level education
He says the current rate of 3,000 euro is cheaper than going to some private secondary schools and said the sector was also bottom of the European table when it comes to state funding for third level.
Students have reacted angrily to his comments and say everyone should have equal access to college
Speaking to RedFM News Maeve Richardson of the Students Union says students should not be locked out of third level due to costs
