UCC says students protesting on the Quad refused to move or remove the encampment ahead of today's graduation ceremony for medical and dental students

Members of the UCC student BDS group are highlighting the 493 healthcare workers killed in Gaza since last October

The group set up an encampment on the Quad over a fortnight ago calling on the college to cut all ties with Israeli institutions

UCC says it has engaged in continuous dialogue with the students and has made a number of commitments in response to their concerns and remains open to talks

Speaking to RedFM News Isabel Moore Walsh from UCC BDS says they are not satisfied with the response so far from college authorities to their demands

"We really want to make the point to the university that we are not going to accept the bare minimum, from them and that we need them to become a pioneer to push this matter to the forefront among Irish universities. We really, really, really need them to step up to the plate and meet our demands in a way that is satisfactory"
