An encampment has been launched on the Quad at University College Cork by students demanding the college cut ties with Israeli institutions.
Up to 10 tents were set up yesterday evening by members of UCC BDS who want the college to condemn the Israeli State for the ongoing war in Gaza.
Last week UCC Students Union said they were not planning any further action on foot of a response they received from the President of UCC after they issued a public letter to him on the matter
Morgan Hegarty from the newly founded UCC BDS told RedFM News that the encampment will remain until UCC meets their demands:
"In terms of the response by the university, we think it falls very far short of the demands which people in this group helped to draft, but we think that if there is no leverage on the part of the students, that the university will be able to delay and delay and see concession after concession on these demands, and water them down effectively"
