Around 60 students collect food and other items from the Union every Monday since the service was launched in October.
Over €25,000 was raised after the Student's Union ran out of food due to the huge demand and it's hoped the money will fund the food bank for years to come.
Speaking to RedFM News, UCC Students Union Welfare Officer Caoimhe Walsh says the cost of accommodation remains the number one for people using the service:
"A lot is to do with accommodation actually just it's just so expensive that they just can't afford food. So they had to make the decision between either having somewhere to live or having something to eat, and obviously a lot of them were like 'I need someone to live' so that was a huge thing. Some courses are really heavy and you need a lot of time so trying to work a part time job is difficult and if they are [able to work the job], it's just the weekend really when they would be able to work."
