There are positive signs that the mains flushing programme, being used to combat dirty water issues in, Cork is working.
Flushing works are currently underway in Gardiner’s Hill/Montenotte and the Gurranabraher/Blarney Street areas of the city
Residents on the northside of the city have been dealing with discoloured water issues for nearly 2 years and are spending up to 120 euro on bottled water a month.
Brian O'Leary from Uisce Eireann, told RedFM News they aim to have the worst affected areas completed by the end of the year:
"The targeted flushing programme which we have commenced is showing positive signs and we've completed Douglas and we've also commenced in two areas on the north side of the city . We expect to have the ten worst affected areas completed by the end of the year so that should see a marked improvement in water quality there"
