Uisce Éireann will begin 'flushing works' on the southside of the city on Monday - to address ongoing problems with discolouration.
Small sections of the network will be isolated and any sediment will be washed out of old cast iron pipes to reduce discolouration of the water supply.
The scheduled maintenance works will affect Ballinlough Road, Browningstown Park, Beechwood Park, Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas
The water utility says there are approximately 600km of watermains in Cork city - 60 to 70 percent of which is made from cast iron and is up to 100 years old.
The works should be completed by Friday the 14th April.
Uisce Éireann is advising its customers not to drink discoloured water.
