Over the last number of months people have been reporting how they have had to replace appliances and buy bottled water as they cannot drink or use their domestic water supply
City Council members backed calls for the abolition of Uisce Eireann which has so far failed to resolve the long running issue
The company initially blamed a chemical treatment regime and more recently blamed a change in the pumping regime for dislodging deposits in old pipes
Ted Tynan of the Workers Party who tabled the abolition motion at Council told RedFM News that he is losing confidence in Uisce Eireann to solve the problem
"Uisce Eireann are totally incompetent, they are using private contractors to do the work, yet there are water workers within Cork City Council who know the system inside out - some of them have been up to 30 years working within the water services and it's far too serious to allow it to rumble on"
