An uncle of Sophie Toscan du Plantier is urging Ian Bailey not to be 'afraid' of a new trial in France - if he's really innocent.
It's after the French president said a new murder trial could be organised for him in Paris.
Mr Bailey was convicted there in his absence two years ago of murdering the film-maker in west Cork in 1996 - but he's never been charged here.
Sophie's uncle, Jean-Pierre Gazeau, strongly supports Emmanuel Macron's comments last week.
"Ian Bailey is always claiming his innocence.
"If he is really innocent he should not be afraid of a trial in France.
"The law system in France is protective of the freedom of people, it's respectful of the rights of people so he should not be afraid - if he's really innocent, as he is claiming."
