A burst water main in the Douglas area of Cork City, which cut off the water supply to more than 6,000 homes and businesses today, has been repaired.
The full water supply is expected to be restored shortly.
In a statement to RedFM News, Irish Water thanked the communities affected for their patience, and apologised for the inconvenience of the unplanned outage.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all affected customers, as the network replenishes - so water discoloration can be expected.
