A second man has been arrested following a serious assault on the Lower Glanmire Road on Thursday night.
The attach has left the victim fighting for his life in Cork University Hospital.
The second man to be arrested, is in his late 30s and is currently detained at Gurranbraher Garda station.
A woman in her late 20s, who had been arrested was released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The first man arrested, also in his late 20s, has been charged in relation to the assault and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.
Gardaí at Mayfield Station are appealing for witnesses.
