The Lord Mayor of the City says violence will not be tolerated in Cork.
It comes as a shooting in Wilton on Friday morning has left locals in shock.
A 42 year old mans condition is no longer life threatening after he was shot in the Wilton Manor Area at around 5am on Friday the 12th of May.
Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have seen a silver saloon car in the Summerstown Drive, Summerstown Road, Wilton Court and Wilton Manor areas between 4:45 and 5.45am on Friday.
Anyone with any information is asked to make contact with Gardai.
Speaking to RedFM News, Lord Mayor of the City and Councillor Deirdre Forde says Gardai are working to ensure people feel safe in the city.
"Certainly the Gardai are in full control of the situation. Anything to do with shooting, or knives, we will not tolerate in this city of ours.
"We want to keep our city safe for the people who live and work in it, and for visitors who come to it.
"I can assure people that I will be articulating a hard-line approach to all incidents where there are firearms or knives or anything of that nature."
