The mobile carrier Vodafone Ireland is urging its customers in the city to make sure they are using 4G or 5G compatible devices.
It's part of a network modernisation process, which will soon see the end of their 3G service in Cork.
Starting in September, Vodafone Ireland will begin switching off its entire 3G network in Cork city - and upgrading to 4G and 5G - which are said to be faster, more reliable, and more evergy efficient.
Less than 4% of the data transferred nationwide on Vodafone’s network is on 3G.
In a statement to RedFM News, Vodafone says affected customers have already been notified by text.
Vodafone Bill Pay customers, currently using a 3G-only handset, can avail of a free upgrade, while Pay As You Go customers can get a discounted one.
An Post Mobile, Clear Mobile, and Sky Mobile customers will also be affected.
