A walk to raise awareness of the Samaritans and the support they offer is taking place in Cork on Sunday.
The "Hand of Friendship Walk" is being organised by former broadcaster Charlie Bird who will lead a 5km walk in Co Wicklow on Sunday morning at 11am.
Cork Samaritans will walk in Curraghbinny Woods near Crosshaven at the same time.
Charlie Bird has described Samaritans as a cause close to his heart and is urging people to get involved.
Last year the popular broadcaster climbed to the peak of Croagh Patrick to raise money for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.
Speaking to RedFM News, Jon Spencer from Cork Samaritans says they are hugely appreciative of Charlie's involvement:
"He shares, how much, how important it is that people talk, and he talks about how he is and how he feels. And that's the really important thing, being able to speak about how you feel, and Samaritans are there 24 hours a day. Our number is 116 123. And anybody can call. There'll be a volunteer there to listen and to support the caller. And it's very important that people can talk about how they feel particularly".
