A Water Treatment Plant supplying customers in West Cork was forced to close at the weekend, due to water quality falling below safe levels.
Heavy rainfall caused turbidity in both the raw and treated water at Kealkill.
Uisce Éireann and Cork County Council are working to bring the plant back into production and to increase reservoir levels.
The utility says that if levels remain critically low, customers may begin to experience water outages and low pressure later today until the works are completed and the reservoir refills.
Uisce Éireann is asking customers to continue to be mindful of water usage to help avoid loss of local supply.
