The Irish Examiner reports the calls were heard at a special meeting of the council's West Cork Municipal District Council in Bantry yesterday.
Over 50 homes and businesses were damaged by flooding in Bantry when Storm Francis passed over the county last Monday.
Sections of road were also extensively damaged when a culvert under the town collapsed.
Storm Francis followed Storm Ellen which also damaged large sections of the N71.
The paper reports local councillors also want the council to set up a mobile team to prevent debris from blocking drains, culverts and streams.
