Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for Cork from midnight.
The forecaster says unseasonably strong and gusty winds and very high tides could lead to power outages and fallen trees.
The warning covers all of Munster as well as Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, Wexford and Wicklow and will be in place until 6am tomorrow.
