The woman is the 18th person to die on Cork roads this year and the 6th pedestrian to lose their life.
The woman was hit by an articulated lorry at the junction of the North Ring Road and Old Youghal Road, outside Mayfield Business Park at 4:45pm yesterday evening.
The body of the woman in her 50s has been removed to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem.
The road was closed for a time to facilitate a forensic examination but has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021 455 85 10.
