A woman in her 80s has been killed in a fatal road traffic accident in Midleton.
Her name has not yet been released to the public.
Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of a single vehicle crash on St Mary's Road in the town - after they were called at around half past 10 this morning.
The woman, in her 80s, was the sole occupant of the car.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will examine the scene and the local Coroner has been notified.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, and for those with camera footage to make it available to them.
