Woman appears in court in Cork city charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a mother of two

A 46-year-old woman has appeared in court in Cork city charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a mother of two.

Jennifer Thomas of 10 Oakfield View, Glanmire Co Cork is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of 54-year-old Sheila Dunne on the 11th of February last.

The charge alleges Jennifer Thomas drove on the L2973 road at Sarsfield Court Glanmire in a manner that was dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of Sheila Dunne.

She also faces other charges including being under the influence of an intoxicant, dangerous driving, not having a driving license and failure to produce a driving license..

Detective Mark Durcan gave evidence of arrest charge and caution and said Thomas made no reply when the charges were put to her.

The DPP instructed the dangerous driving causing death charge be dealt with on indictment before a judge and jury at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Mary Dorgan remanded Thomas on bail to appear before that court on the 29th of October for trial.
