Cork remains under an Orange weather alert for snow and rain until midday while a yellow alert for low temperatures is in place until noon tomorrow
Overnight heavy rain has transitioned to sleet and snow leading to dangerous driving conditions across the county.
The worst affected areas in the county include Newmarket, Rockchapel, Charleville, Mitchelstown, Macroom, Millstreet and Coachford.
The R600 at Cork Airport has been heavily impacted by slush so drivers are asked to exercise extreme caution in the area
All primary routes were gritted and salted overnight with the process repeated this morning
Speaking to RedFM News Liz Coleman from Met Eireann says the wintry precipitation will continue for another hour or two
"The band of wintry precipitation is slowly sinking southwards and clearing out into the sea, but it will continue to snow, sleet and rain in the county for the next one or two hours"
