A status yellow fog warning is in place for Cork until 10am.
Motorists are being advised to drive with extreme caution following the weather warning from Met Éireann, who say that dense fog can be expected around the city and county this morning.
Brian Farrell of The Road Safety Authority is urging motorists to use common sense when driving.
"The most obvious risk in these conditions is the reduced visibility that drivers and road users will ace.
"It's critical that we slow down if we are driving, turn on your dipped headlights and your fog lights front and rear, and leave a bigger space, bigger than you normally would, between yourself and the vehicle in front."
