The crew were paged at 8:23pm to a swimmer in difficulty around half a mile off shore and received further reports of a second swimmer who entered the water.
Both swimmers were eventually able to make it to shore without assistance.
The crew carried out a general search of the area before returning to their lifeboat station.
The RNLI are reminding people that unseen currents, cold water and waves make open water swimming challenging for even the strongest of swimmers.
They're advising people to always tell someone where and when you are going swimming.
