16 year old Junior Cert student Katie Byrne from Cobh was born with cerebral palsy and needs an operation on her hip, which has been dislocated since she was a baby.
The issue is causing Katie to miss days of school at times due to the difficulty and pain she experiences when moving.
Doctors here say they are unable to perform the operation, which means Katie's family are being forced to raise €300,000 to allow her to have the surgery in the US.
The money is needed to pay for the operation in Florida and 6 weeks of post-surgery physical therapy.
