There has been a 30% increase in domestic violence reports to the Gardai in some areas since the lockdown began.
Women's Aid says it has also seen an increase in calls to its services, according to The Irish Times.
But it's understood that the true spike in domestic violence is likely to be much higher than reported because many victims are now in lockdown with their abuser.
