That's either positive cases or those who are symptomatic close contacts.
The Health Service Executive is looking for a derogation from the advice on those who are asymptomatic restricting their movements in households.
CEO Paul Reid believes it's an appropriate request to make:
"From our perspective, we now today have 4400 staff who are out as either positive cases or symptomatic cases. Now this will be a very significant impact. We're in a different position than we were last year, to the extent we now have our workforce fully vaccinated, primarily, and we are also and we will be well progressed with our workforce in terms of the booster vaccine."
