49 People Have Died Of Covid-19 In Cork Since The Pandemic Began

The latest figures from the CSO cover the 28th of February to the 21st of August.

40 people in the city and county died from Covid-19 between March 20th and May 29th, meaning an average of three people died every month during June, July and August.

The median age of those who died remains the same at 83, while the median age of the 1,617 people who contracted the virus in Cork is 46.

A comparison of the last CSO release and today's shows that just 88 people contracted the virus in Cork between the 29th of May and last Friday.

There have been further cases of the virus in Cork since last Friday however, including 9 confirmed cases on Wednesday.
