Just over 16,000 people arrived into Ireland from overseas last month.

It marks a 99% drop off when compared to April of 2019, when more than 1.7 million people flew or sailed into the country.

The majority of people who arrived into the Republic came from the UK.

The Central Statistics Office says close to 18,000 people traveled out of the country via ports and airports last month.
